Community Outreach

I have been fortunate enough to apply my skills, knowledge, and expertise to several community initiatives and organizations. Below I have listed four community outreach opportunities with which I have been involved.

Fall Prevention Subcommittee

As part of the Safe City Windsor Initiative, I have been serving on the Fall Prevention subcommittee. Together with clinicians, service providers, policy makers and public health advocates within Windsor-Essex County, I have been working on various initiatives focused on reducing the risk associated with falling among older adults in our community. As part of this group, I lead the development of the A.C.T.I.V.E. quick self-assessment regarding an individual’s fall risk.

Connections Early Years Family Centre (Connections)

Connections is a non-profit organization that provides various services and resources to assist families in the Windsor-Essex County of vulnerable populations and young children (i.e. children aged 0-6 years). As a Board Member I am assisting with various fundraising events, accessible building renovations, and the applications for funding.

Rehabilitative Care Alliance (RCA)

The RCA is a consortium of individuals from across Ontario and funded by the provincial 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs). The RCA focuses on enhancing the rehabilitative care for all individuals across the province to ensure they are afforded the opportunity to attain the best outcomes. Furthermore, the RCA works to ensure the healthcare system and associated resources with respect the rehabilitative care are committed to being efficient and effective. I have been a member of the Frail Senior Task Group. This task group is a collaborative group of experts from across the province working together to develop and refine rehabilitative care pathways specifically for frail older adults.
