Part One: Anatomy of the 21st Century Online and Open Educator

The first part of Anatomy of the 21st Century Online and Open Educator was taught by Nick Baker.

The course introduced various core principles to assist instructors in the development of online learning environments. It was built on open resources and developed with the underpinnings from Simon Bates’ (2014) concept of the anatomy of a 21st Century educator as well as Tony Bates’ (2015) Teaching in a digital age.

This course afforded me to learn about a lot of tools I did not previously know about and allowed me to even start exploring their use while currently teaching a classroom based course.

Concept Mapping was something I had previously done via what I will call pen and napkin. There are various tools such as Coggle or Cmap that can assist in the development of your mapping. As another student first posted about her experiences developing a concept map using Coggle, I opted to use Cmap:

We also started to develop our own definitions for Digital Literacy, and how to create an Empathy map. My creations were as follows:
