Dr. Chitra Rangan from University of Windsor, was acknowledged this year by Canadian Association of Physics for her unstoppable contribution to the field of physics.
The Canadian Association of Physics, founded in 1945, is a professional association that supports and encourages more than 1600 physicists and physic students across Canada, U.S and overseas through different activities related to physics. During the 2015 CAP congress, Dr. Rangan was awarded the annual CAP Medal for Excellence that honours every year an undergraduate professor, who is committed to communicate his/her exceptional knowledge in physics and helps students to achieve high academic performance.
Dr. Rangan, who is one of the University of Windsor Teaching Leadership chairs, has been devoted in adopting new techniques that enhance student learning and optimize students’ interest in physics. Her latest project PEARL (Promotion of Experiential and Research-Based Learning) is the perfect embodiment of her great work and impact. Dr. Rangan has also continued her ongoing research in atomic and molecular physics with more recent work on gold nanoparticles and applications in medical physics. Her publications include 24 refereed articles, 3 book chapters and more than 26 talks given in various seminars and conferences.
