Check out the reflection below, from a workshop I attended:
In order to help students regulate their emotions, they must first learn how to label them and how to cope with them. This is an amazing TED Talk that speaks about “5 chairs and 5 choices” with regards to our reactions to situations. We are in charge of our emotions, for the most part, and with these helpful chairs it becomes easier to recognize what emotion is being felt, what is an overreaction, and what is appropriate behaviour. It encourages people to take a minute before reacting to a situation, because maybe it has been misjudged or something has been miscommunicated. Reacting with anger, will only make the other person become defensive. When if a moment had been taken prior to reacting, the situation could have played out more rational, and resolved quicker.
