About Me

My name is Ashleigh Arca.

Born in Scarborough Ontario, I moved to Windsor at the age of eight, and have lived here since. During my childhood, I spent my time split between wandering through the professional kitchens when my father brought me to his work, and visiting my mother when she was fighting through her battle with Lupus. I watched my family slip from Lower-Middle Class to Lower Class as my mother’s health deteriorated, and my father struggled to support our family on his own.

Currently, I am a BFA—Visual Art student at the University of Windsor. I am working my way to a concentration in painting, with an addition of an Arts Management certificate. As an artist, I utilize my childhood as the fuel behind my work. Utilizing mixed media, I find parallels between a person’s mental and physical scars and the similar marks created on the surfaces of objects and architecture. The history behind these scars, surfaces, and the stories that they tell are what interest me the most. These stories should be appreciated, as they are what shape people into who they are, as well as shape the aesthetic appearance of an area.

Feel free to browse the works I have created and the exhibitions I have participated in. I also encourage you to check out my CV that I have attached to the bottom of this page should you be interested in seeing my experience and credentials.

Thank you for visiting Arca Atelier!
