Highlights from the 2015 WCSE Conference

PEARL community had it’s last session for 2015 on November 19.

Our guest speakers: Dr. Kirsten Poling, Dr. Tanya Noel and Dr. Julie Smit, from the department of Biological Sciences, provided information regarding the Western Conference on Science Education. Held every two years and hosted by an exceptional team of science pedagogy researchers and practitioners, it provides an excellent opportunity to hear the latest research on evidence-based teaching and get practical ideas that can be used in the classroom. The conference features multiple nationally recognized plenary speakers, and is structured with ample time to develop ideas and discuss them. Commonly, 3M teaching award winners attend and participate, and the highly interactive nature of the conference provides opportunities for educators to connect and network with others having shared interests and experience. The science teaching and learning specialist, also discussed about the theme of the conference which was “Gather+ Create+ Improve”.
