2014-2015 Concluding Remarks

In the last PEARL event of the 2014-2015 academic year, PEARL members were invited to share in an informal luncheon their experiences in researching teaching. Teaching Leadership Chairs from a variety of faculties, members of the PEARL community and guests from Research Ethics Board discussed the challenges of conducting research on teaching and learning as well as publishing in SoTL journals/venues.

Participants had an opportunity to share their discipline-specific research ideas and challenges, and brainstormed among peers potential collaboration opportunities. The ultimate goal of PEARL is to support high-impact Science teaching pedagogies, and offer opportunities for its members to share experiences and improve their teaching in a supportive environment. As such, this event was the first in a series of workshops that will follow in 2015-2016 academic year, and aim to prepare and support science faculty research their own teaching and publish in SoTL venues.
