Research on Second Language learning

Some methods I enjoyed learning about are the TPR which stands for total physical response. I read about Chomsky’s theory of LAD (Language acquisition device) or Universal Grammar, in which describes the rapid language development in humans. I relate to the idea that Language is innate and that we can find similarities between languages across humanity; the Interactionist approach is also of interest to me as it reinforces the idea of interconnectedness of both biological and social factors. Another interesting point that Vygotsky makes is that the the environment in which one is born is an effective way to develop and practise a language, this is part of the Natural Order hypothesis Theory. Schumman’s’ Acculturation model and Krashen, also focuses on psychological and social factors; where the subconscious process, learning formal instruction, monitor, part of the Acquisition Learning hypothesis: is part of utterance. Monitor/ editor, natural order hypothesis: grammar structures that follow a ‘natural and predictable’ order. Only acquisition: comprehensible order. I + l. Affective Filter Hypothesis: Facilitative but non causal role: Motivation, self- confidence and anxiety. Theories of Language.

The AIM Method which stands for Accelerative Integrated Method- Aim explains that to accelerate fluency in the beginning levels of language learning is cubical, especially when adding Visual, auditory and gestures as an introduction to vocabulary; secondly, imagination and creativity expand the activity. Useful key words are taught first. These ones can be used in the About me activity. Pointing to myself ‘Je m’appelle’ and then pointing to the other person ‘Et toi ?’ for example. Useful in the early stages. Dance, music and theatre are also part of the method. Storytelling. Creative writing samples are also used, as well as role play activities, in which students become a part of the learning process and engaged within the topic being addressed.

This is an example of active learning, in which students combine creativity and vocabulary learned, in Italian classhttp://uwindsor.icampus21.com/wordpress/silansortino/wp-content/uploads/sites/4855/2021/01/Calligram-eg.jpg http://uwindsor.icampus21.com/wordpress/silansortino/wp-content/uploads/sites/4855/2020/04/Silan1-2-768×1024.jpg this can be done by using words as well as drawings.
