Philosophy of Education

I believe in the importance of developing a strong teacher student bond. It is crucial that everyone in the classroom feels loved and cared for, promoting the well – being of the whole child, that is considering the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of the student. As a future educator, I will strive to make sure students are aware of various strategies and learning methods that are available for them, such as exploring various technological platforms that would help enhance their learning, especially when looking at second language acquisition.

It is important that students are recognized for their strengths and gifts. Every child learns at a different pace, the goal is to make sure that every concept is acquired and mastered well wit the use of various strategies. I like to think that students’ progress and skill development are similar to wheat ears in which their growth is at different pace, but they all reach their full growth and so such as students’ potential at a point in time. It is through Differentiated Instruction that students understand and acquire material in a way that is tailored to their needs and interests. I enjoy teaching a second language and seeing the ways in which students make progress. I have had both experiences of teaching French and Italian and saw that the strategies of providing fun and interactive learning by cross- subject is an effective way of student engagement.

When teaching a second Language, I like to provide examples that range between English and connecting these with both French and Italian. I try to incorporate technology to students’ learning. I think this creates an opportunity for students to reinforce the skills acquired by learning new platforms that enhance their learning experience. One platform I find useful is Google Drive and Pixton. I also believe in finding the gifts and strengths in every student. I believe in the importance of getting to know your students from the very beginning and organizing ones’ teaching to students’ needs and interests. I also believe that the content needs to be relatable to students. The teacher needs to provide positive and yet realistic learning experiences for students and it comes with the organization of lessons and activities around various topics discussed and subject content. Some examples of these, may include introducing sport, music, art and civic studies into ones’ teaching and exploration of topics, providing choice, contributing to students’ overall development and formation of a culturally sensitive and active citizen.

I’d like when students become critical thinkers and question the material they are studying, engaging with and being constructors of knowledge and material they are focusing. It is important to provide students with a voice, including students in the decision – making process, in order to feel they hold a sense of accountability, participation and responsibility.

Add other material, strategies and artifacts. Placements and Liechtenstein material.
