Living in Canada

Moving to Canada has opened many opportunities for me. I started getting involved in volunteering opportunities and have built invaluable connections that have led me to a beautiful journey. I have been able to work in a French workplace setting and have experienced living in northern Québec for a 5 week – full Immersion, in a small town called Trois Pistoles, where I was immersed in French Canadian culture and life. Living in both Italy and Canada, I’ve had the chance to experience two different school systems and learn from both. I attended Catholic Central High School in London, Ontario. I pursued my Undergraduate degree at Kings’ University College (Western University) in French Language and Literature and I am now at the end of my second year of the Bachelor of Education Program at the University of Windsor.

This journey has helped me open my mind to new perspectives, ideas, ways of learning and knowing and has helped me build networks and invaluable connections. There is nothing more beautiful to being able to learn from other cultures and find yourself immersed in two ways on thinking, working and living. The other positive aspect that is present when living abroad is the beauty of knowing three languages and being able to think in all of them and go back in forth, making connections and relating to one another. I enjoy this quote from Von Goethe, which states “Those who know nothing of foreign languages know nothing of their own.” Therefore, learning three languages and living abroad has allowed me to discover more about myself.

I enjoy singing, dancing, reading and writing. I like to play sports, in particular volleyball and ping pong. I enjoy travelling, being in nature and I love spending time with children. My number one passion and favourite hobby is learning languages and reading in French, Italian, Spanish and self-study Mandarin. I grew up bilingual, learning both English and Italian. Later on I acquired French and Spanish. I am a people person and enjoy building networks. I love spending time with children. My passion is learning the ways and methods in which individuals acquire the skills for second language learning and how to effectively teach phonetics and sounds to speakers of different languages. I encourage this in my teaching of French and Italian, by making connections between similarities, but also outlining the differences in between languages.
