Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every student deserves a caring, safe and welcoming education environment to come to school and learn every day. Teachers foster these environments and help them grow by promoting a good classroom culture through their own practice. I aim to be the most inclusive, progressive and caring teacher that I can be and forever help my students to learn and grow in an environment that gives them comfort. As a teacher’s sense of purpose is to educate their students, a good teacher provides a sense of purpose to those they teach, allowing students to feel needed and useful is good axiology and humanistic practice. Allowing students to feel accomplished and motivating them to be the best they can be in all aspects of life, that is a teacher’s duty. Every day I strive to be this kind of teacher, that truly helps students inside the classroom and outside in their lives.

Teaching is a process of learning. Teaching involves asking questions. Teaching is a life-long journey. As a teacher, I believe it is my duty to always reflect on my teaching practices to ensure the best learning environment for my students. This reflection includes ideology and development, asking myself questions constantly. How can I improve? What kind of learning environment do I want to create? How can I expand my knowledge and skills? I believe that as a professional, development is the way to succeed. Taking part in professional development opportunities, continuously progressing with my students and growing with the school community are all ways to evolve as a professional. I know that as my students progress and my career extends, my mentality and knowledge must expand with these elements. There will always be areas to improve on to create this learning environment that students will enjoy, remember and learn from.

Providing students with opportunities to not only learn but also succeed. Ensuring that as a teacher, I facilitate a classroom where students feel encouraged, safe and a sense of pride. I want all students to leave my learning environment feeling more confident, supported and matured. This will only be possible if I continuously work on my own skills and knowledge, to better myself as an educator. Methods to engaged students must be varied with every group of students I welcome in my classroom and continuously during the academic term. Experiential learning is especially valuable today in education and providing those experiences for students is something I want to do.

I believe students have a right to learn and be joyful when they do. As a teacher, I will strive to ensure all my students are learning by using various teaching styles to incorporate all the different types of learners and ensure that every student always feels included no matter the lesson or style. All students deserve the have a great education and an even better teacher to help them along their educational journeys. My role as a teacher is to foster this environment and experience for all my students in my class every day of my career.
