Jesse Tree Bulletin Board

This artifact was created in collaboration with another student teacher at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary school for grades 5, 6, and 7 classes. This bulletin board was the product of an introductory lesson on Advent and the Jesse Tree. The lesson included the activity of creating Jesse Tree ornaments. Each student was given a template of an Old Testament image to decorate and colour. Following their art, the students would then conduct research about what their ornament image meant and what the meaning could reflect in the season of Advent. Their reflections will be written on the back of their ornament. All ornaments were hung on the Jesse Tree that my colleague and I created in the hallway between both of our classrooms. This activity allowed students to reflect on various parts of their faith and their Catholic education. This artifact aligns well with the commitment to students and student learning standard of practice, as it allows students to contribute as citizens in Canadian society and express their faith and learn more about why we celebrate the season of Advent.
