About Me

Hello, welcome to my e-portfolio. My name is Rebecca Bell, and I am a teacher candidate at the University of Windsor. I am currently in my final year of the Concurrent BA/BEd/ECE program, with graduation fast approaching.

Ever since I was young I have always wanted to teach. I believe that as a teacher you can do so much more for children than just teach them a curriculum. I believe a teacher can make a huge difference in a child’s life. I aspire to be that person for my students.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe every child should be given the same opportunities to learn. Every child should be seen as capable and competent. A good teacher is always there for their students. I believe that every child brings something new to the table. Every child is different and unique, therefore having different abilities and struggles. I will help my students be able to feel welcome to express themselves freely and be able to embrace everyone’s differences. A child should feel as though they are a part of the classroom community. Children are still learning who they are, how they fit into the world, and what they are capable of. In my teaching, I am always trying to learn new things, whether that be about the children in my room, their families, or how to better help the children grow. I believe the best people you can learn from our children. No one is more capable of telling you what they need to excel than children. I believe that children are capable and competent.

A teacher should provide a safe and warm environment for children to be able to learn, grow and express themselves without fear of being judged. It is my goal to be able to provide this type of environment to allow my students to be able to reach their full potential. every classroom has its way of moving and getting things done, however, it is my belief that no child should ever feel like they are not a part of this. In my teaching, I try to find ways to include everyone, this does not mean necessarily large group time but finding ways to alter lessons to make it accessible to all children. I believe making the environment accessible for children of all abilities can make the environment feel safer and more welcoming. Giving children the time and space to play and explore freely can help them greatly in their development. Teaching about social and emotional well-being is something I believe is very important to teach to children. Giving children the ability to build relationships and understand and regulate their emotions will help them feel safe and able. As an educator, I believe it is my role to create positive and trusting relationships with both my students and families. I also believe it is my role to help positively guide my students. My role is to assist my students in reaching their full potential. I will use my hands-on learning, projects, assignments, and classroom study to help me to better engage and further my students learning. As an educator, I believe it is also my role to create positive and trusting relationships with both my students and families. Both families and students should feel comfortable coming to me.

With the knowledge I currently have, as well as the knowledge I will acquire in the next three years, my teaching style and strategies will be in the best interest of my students. My goal will always be to see my students grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.
