The pathway of intrinsic apoptosis is different than that of extrinsic pathway, the former begins with intracellular specific signals like DNA damage or viral infections while the latter begins with extrinsic signal that involves natural killer or CD8-positive cytotoxic T lymphocytes in the immune system.
