Firenze (Florence)

321I went to Florence 2 weeks ago with my class, and it was my first real experience in a big tourist city in Italy. Until then i had only been on the trains in Pisa, and then on to Volterra ( a very small town of only 1100 people). It was overwhelming at first to say the least. I think some day’s I’m still in disbelief that i am actually in Italy seeing all this history and art that I’ve only ever seen in movies and textbooks and through pictures online. Its surreal, and i know these are memories that will last with me forever, and some day’s i think i take that for granted that i am lucky enough to be here, and see and experience all of this; but its also just the first step on my journey to see as much as i can around the world. I wish to just be a cultural sponge at the end of my life, but now back to Florence.

Coming from both an artistic and Historical point of view, Firenze is nothing less than amazing. If you like Art history its even better. Everywhere you go you are overwhelmed with fantastic Architecture in the Cathedrals, Renaissance art, and the view of all the beautiful winding medieval streets. While there hit most of the major Tourist attractions, including The Uffize Museum, The Ponte Vecchio, Basillica di Santa Maria del Fiore, The Piazza della Signoria ( And all the sculptures and the Fountain of Neptune there), as well as David in theĀ Galleria dell’Accademia.
