For the weekend before venice Elizabeth and I went to visit Elizabeth’s family, who live just outside the town of Pordenone, called Codenon’s. It was an amazing time to be surrounded by her family, they took me in and treated me like I was family too. They took time out of their lives to show us around town, make us all sorts of delicious meals and dinners, and they catered to our every need as if it were no problem whatsoever. They were very welcoming and loving. First we were given a tour around pordenone and shown the giant market where Elizabeth bought very pretty gloves. Then we stopped at a local bar for drinks and a snack until Ronalto brought us home. We went back to the house where Zia Elida had lunch waiting for us, it was delicious. The next night, cousin Elisa brought us out with her friends which was very interesting because she had just gotten her licence and this was the first time she had driven with anyone else in the car. We were able to meet some of her friends and see what young Italians like to do.
We also got to go to an american air base because Elisa knew we were missing home and thought going to the American bar would be nice for us. It was so funny being in an american bar in Italy, and surrounded by people who spoke english. Lizz got a chilli cheese dog which trust me you would have a hard time finding anywhere else in Italy I am sure. There was north American beer and pool tables. It was really interesting to see the two cultures literally side by side.
