This was by no means a educational trip but it was still a trip that needs mentioning along this journey. It was a weekend get away from me and Lizz. We were headed down south for the beach. Living with everyone is great and you make some really close friends that will hopefully last a life time, however every once in a while one must get away. As soon as we got to Sicily you could tell right way we were not in Tuscany anymore. People sounded differently. I had not been in Italy that long I did not think I would be able to tell the difference in the way people sounded. By the time we got to the hotel the only thing I wanted to do was go in the shower and the only thing Lizz wanted to do was go to the beach. I won I needed my shower and then we could do whatever Lizz wanted to do for the weekend. The hotel was amazing though the bed was another story. We had this great view of the street with a balcony that looked down onto people and also let the people across from us see right into our room. We kept these windows closed fully during the day.
Lizz and my first task was to find Lizz a place to buy a bathing suit because she did not bring one with her. Even though the weather was drastically warmer from Volterra people insisted it was the winter time. It is not like Canada where there are street vendors and at any time of the year you can get beach things. Shops despite the temperature were selling mittens and hats. So liz ended up useing one of my bathing suits I had even though it was a little big on her.
Lizz and I finally got to the public beach and starting taking pictures and enjoying what was left of the sun for the day, for tomorrow the full day of sun would come.
It was not a far walk to the paid beach that we planned to go that was suppose to have live music and much more. Again though for the people of Sicily it was the winter. The only people on the beach was tourist. It was not so bad as it was still a nice break from the cold weather of Volterra.
