These challenges will be “assigned” throughout the year to my classes, in the hopes of increasing self-regulation, positivity, ethical standards, self-reflection, and collaboration. All challenges are participatory, and engagement will not be mandatory. But highly encouraged.
One: Find the Yoga video in my Bitmoji classroom, and do it. You can choose to do it solo, virtually with friend over a video chat, or with a friend in person.
Two: Write down something you love about yourself. Why do you love it? Give me some examples!
Three: Who is your role model? Why do you value them? What behaviours, thoughts, characteristics of theirs do you want to adopt? What ones do you already have? This can be done through a journal reflection, a mental chat with yourself, and artistic expression, or anything else your heart desires.
Four: Create a folder, whether on the computer or a hardcopy. In this folder you will put artifacts of your success: kind words from others, certificates, tests, art projects, etc. Remember: you are loved and you are capable!
Five: Pom Pom jar- I will add pom poms to our jar when I see a kind act, when we line up properly, when we are well behaved for supply teachers, when we tidy up, when we go above and beyond and when we leave the room tidy!
Six: To be Honest jar- The Idea: students can anonymously write a positive pump up message about someone else in class, and put it into the jar. These will be read the next morning. Why? This is to promote self-awareness and kindness in the classroom. As well as increasing positivity, mindfulness, gratefulness and collaboration in the classroom environment.
