Activities and demonstrations are a great way for the variety of learning styles, such as visual, verbal, writing and kinesthetic to learn the concepts in a way that is fun and interesting to them.
Class Persuasive Paragraph
St. Christopher Catholic Elementary
AT – Mrs. Rina Testa-Planke
March/April 2022
This paragraph was made as a class with the Grade 7’s. After learning about persuasive writing techniques we drafted a paragraph with the topic the class agreed on. Afterwards, we then corrected the grammar and sentence structure when reading it over again. This was to prepare them for their group activity of writing a persuasive paragraph to then get them to write one on their own.
Exercise Circle
Notre Dame Catholic Elementary
AT – Mrs. Erin Sementilli
November/December 2022
During gym we did student-led exercise circles. This allowed them to build independence, leadership, and confidence skills as they shared responsibility to lead the class in stretches. This makes the activity more engaging for students.
Dye in Different Temperature Water
Notre Dame Catholic Elementary
AT – Mrs. Erin Sementilli
November/December 2022
During the science lessons within the Grade 8 class I prepared many demos and experiments to help them understand the concepts they were learning. They got to see what they were learning about in action and participate to keep the class interested in the material.
Is it from the Rainforest?
St. Rose Catholic Elementary
AT – Mrs. Laurie Clement
March/April 2023
During a lesson on saving the rainforest, the Grade 4’s completed an activity in which they had to guess whether the item came from the rainforest or not. If they thought yes they would hold up the green card and if no, the red one. This made all students engaged in the lesson and let me know who was listening or not. They then had to back up their answer for why they chose yes or no.
