I also joined the Embassy Cultural House website team and coordinated their International Women’s Day exhibition. This year I had my first solo exhibition In Peril at For the Love of Art art gallery. I have been awarded the David Magee Scholarship in Visual Arts and the Mackie Cryderman Award for Excellence in Visual Arts. Recently, I was on CTV News and was additionally featured in various news articles. Working within a realism tradition of representation, I specialize in free-hand drawings with conte, charcoal, and acrylic am also exploring performance and intaglio.
Today, I proudly educate emerging artists at For the Love of Art art gallery in London, Ontario. I have also been a volunteer teaching assistant in various schools. These include teaching elementary Italian at St Thomas More Catholic Elementary School during my Undergraduate degree and Grade 10 Visual Arts at Lord Dorchester Secondary School as a Co-operative education position.
I have always known I wanted to be an educator. I have been actively working towards and pursuing this profession since high school. During those years, I participated in Co-operative education placements and peer tutoring which gave me the valuable experience to confirm that this was the profession for me. Teaching is all about relationships; it is what I valued the most when I was teaching. To see the students succeed and their faces light up with excitement about a concept they are interested in; is a moment that I will forever pursue. That is when I realized my passion for teaching. I want to learn and continue to grow with my students. I am determined to inspire my students to keep pursuing their passions, continue to express themselves, and take risks.
