Virtual Performance Videos!

When COVID-19 put a pause on in-person theatre classes and performances, it was difficult to imagine what my music theatre classes would look like online. I knew my students would have a hard time adjusting, as they used these classes to express themselves, to collaborate, and to communicate. I had to do something.

So, I decided to build upon the little knowledge I had of editing films in high school to put together a virtual performance video. I was thrilled that 8 students of mine wanted to participate and their commitment to the arts motivated me to continue providing them with opportunities to perform online.

Throughout the year, I have created a series of videos, from 3 minutes long to a full 45 minute production! This holiday season, I created a ‘Virtual Holiday Concert’ with 22 young artists to be shared with 26 local retirement homes and long-term care homes. I was so inspired by each child’s dedication and creativity.

CHILDREN’S ARTS ORGANIZATIONS SHOWCASE (CHAOS Festival)

I also played a leadership role in editing & organizing a Virtual Children’s Arts Organization Showcase (the CHAOS Festival). This festival strived to celebrate the dedication and creativity of young artists in a variety of youth theatre groups, as well as individual artists. This all day event featured workshops, performances, poems, stories, open mic sessions, and a virtual art gallery! I am so grateful to collaborate with young artists and help them create and share their expressive work, especially during these times!
