There are 2 parts to the funeral which are very individualized around the deceased wishes:
1. Funeral ritual held by priestess and priests located in a hall, chapel, or somewhere public so anyone can attend
2. Burial, which is only attended by closest friends, family, and coven-mates
Additional mourning services for loved ones that have passed are celebrated on Samhain (October 31st) or Day of the Dead (November 2nd).
Priests and Priestesses lead the funeral service and are usually dressed in green or black. Their role in the funeral is to clear the ritual space, recite the ritual chant, lead singing, and speak individualized words to the deceased to help with the journey into death. The priestesses are considered the mother and the gods support the mother to call the deities into the circle, so therefore the priestesses have more power than the priests.

Funeral Service

Starts with the reading of a poem to lead the guests into the temple. This poem states that you have to leave the hurts and the wrongs that the modern world has inflicted on you outside of the temple place. You cannot enter the temple with negative, hurtful, or revengeful emotions.
The ritual space is cleared and a candle is placed at each cardinal direction and 2 at the min alter.
Guests then gather in a circle around the deceased and sing a song to enter into a ritual mindset. This circle must remain positive and this is done by reading the poem, cussing the circle, using the sweeping chant, purifying the circle with the elements, have the deities enter the circle, wine blessing, and individual rituals.
The priest will cuss the circle 3 times with a bolline sword to build an energy field around the  circle. The sweeping chant is next and this is done to sweep out all the negative energy and  contamination in the circle. Purifying the circle happens with the elements by reading specific poems for each cardinal direction. The elements are earth, fire, water, and air. The circle is a dome of energy surrounding the guests and deceased. The elements protect the circle and consecrate it to be a firm block of energy. There needs to be a hole left at the top of the circle so the deities can enter with protection from the circle. The deities support the funeral and you call on the specific helpers from the traditions you believe (eg. Greek, Egyptian).
The wine blessing is the reminder of the creation of the universe, humans, and life. Everyone partakes and takes a drink of the wine. Lastly it is time to do the specific works of that individual. They chose a person to write a individual ritual and speak on the deceased’s behalf. This is done by sharing stories, and singing songs about healing and goodbye.

Burial

Old Wiccan traditions wrapped the body in cloth to all it to decompose naturally and as quickly as possible to provide nourishment for other life. Since there are now rules and regulations against that, they favour cremation to avoid the use of embalming fluids. Depending on family preferences, anyone they chose can attend the gravesite burial. Each funeral and burial is different based on certain ritual practices but they all share the same idea of honouring the deceased’s individuals wishes.
