Ontario College of Teachers

International Open Academy

Below are some certificates I have received through the International Open Academy. They include: ADHD Awareness, Autism Awareness, Dyslexia Awareness, Special Educational Needs, and 120-Hour TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

I chose to complete these certificates because I thought they would help me develop into a better teacher. Each of these modules covered their topics extensively, and I was able to learn how to recognize and identify these problems, and what these individuals need to be successful. This reflects my teaching philosophy as I want to be able to create an environment where my students can thrive, and where they feel comfortable and respected. By gaining a deeper understanding into this subject matter, I can be a better teacher for my future students.

As I continue to progress through my career as an educator, I will constantly seek out opportunities to learn more about this profession, and how I can better serve my students.

Vulnerability and Marginalization Conference

In January 2022, I was able to participate in the 4th Annual VME Conference where I chose to attend specific presentations including a keynote speaker, “Windsor Youth Centre”, “Experiences Living with a Physical Disability” and “Windsor Essex Child/Youth Advocacy Centre”.
