About Devina
Hello, my name is Devina Martinez and I am currently enrolled in the University of Windsor’s Concurrent BA/ECE/BEd program. I am in my fifth year, completing my last BEd year. This five-year program is unique to most Concurrent Programs because along with the Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Education, you also are enrolled in an Early Childhood Education diploma program at St. Clair College. This makes graduates an Early Childhood Educator along with being a Primary/Junior Teacher.
I was born and grew up in London, ON, and moved to Windsor for my post-secondary education. I am a daughter, granddaughter, sister, and aunt to a beautiful little girl. I am Roman Catholic, and my faith is a big part of who I am. The most important virtues to me are kindness, humility, and patience. All three of these virtues shaped who I am as a person, and helped me to practice my faith through my actions in every aspect of life.
I have always had an interest in the arts and sports. Although these two sides of myself often conflict, I made it a goal of mine to be able to pursue both of my interests throughout my life. I have been involved in music and choir in the church for over 10 years, and I am also a basketball fan and former coach.
In my childhood, school was always my favourite part of the day. I loved how passionate and excited my teachers were to help the class learn new things every day. My teachers’ passion and excitement for education influenced me from a very young age, and I believe that being an educator is my vocation.
My passion is learning, and I wholeheartedly believe in being a lifelong learner. This is why I chose to go down a teaching pathway. I believe that knowledge is power, and everyone, regardless of age, should be excited to learn every day.
Please feel free to explore the pages, artifacts, and documents throughout my portfolio. Thank you.
