CrossRoads is intended to educate its readers about the uses and effects of technology on learning. Learning is not circumscribed to the traditional classroom and is encompasses any setting that requires new knowledge or skill to be obtained. As such, our readers will be exposed to a diversity of topics and issues regarding technology as it is used for the purposes of learning. Topics may range from classroom settings and individualistic needs to professional development. CrossRoads is intended to illustrate the diverse ways that technology can both enhance and hinder learning.
We hope that our posts will allow readers to critically think about how
technology is being used in their learning settings, and whether it can be used in a more productive way. Some myths will be dispelled using scientifically validated information, certain issues will be raised regarding the effectiveness of technology, and the importance of not disregarding technology as necessarily good or bad will be explored.
This blog is part of the work being undertaken by students in EDUC 4050: Instructional Technologies, a course offered by the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. It is a goal of this blog to share our thoughts and questions with the broader community interested in edtech. Whether you’re new to using technology or have been around the block for a while, we welcome respectable discussion and debate.
