On September 14th, 2012 about a year after Jack Layton passed away, a gathering of community members and local NDP politicians dedicated a tree in honour of the late leader of the NDP.
Taras Natyshak (MPP Essex), Brian Masse (MP Windsor West) and Joe Comartin (MP Windsor-Tecumseh) all spoke, sharing memories of Jack Layton and encouraging the community to hold on to the late politician’s vision of a brighter future.

This event was a fitting tribute to one of Canada’s most beloved politicians. The people who gathered for this occasion can find solace in knowing that Jack Layton’s spirit and words will not be forgotten. Thanks for inviting me out to document this important ceremony. “Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear.” – Jack Layton, 2011.
