“In my 40 years as a professional singer and a teacher, I have never met a young man with more potential as a teacher and motivator.”
Prof. Theodore Baerg (Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University)
Thank you for checking out my website. I am originally from Windsor, Ontario, having successfully completed my Doctorate of Musical Arts from Western University (2019) and have returned to Windsor and completed my Bachelor of Education (2022).
The goal of my doctoral research was to explore the impact of adaptive methods and modalities in classical voice performance in connecting with adult audiences as explored through live performance. The conclusions observed provide further context on the effectiveness of innovative performance practices within classical music and provide a suggested set of parameters when producing such kinds of performances for present-day audiences.
While pursuing my Doctorate, I also worked as a private voice instructor with the Performing Arts Faculty at St. Clair College’s Music Theatre program in Windsor, Ontario. With a diverse studio of students (first-year through third-year), I was able to utilize my pre-established knowledge surrounding the voice and apply that knowledge within a university-level institution: vocal anatomy, repertoire, and pedagogy.
In addition to my academic accomplishments, I had the privilege of working as Assistant Director and Stage Manager for some of Canada and North America’s more well-known Opera Director’s during five of Western’s eight major opera productions during my doctoral program (2015-2019): tracking daily progress against production schedules, coordinating schedules and rehearsals, and training all incoming students interested in volunteering their time as Assistant Stage Managers.
My background in mixed methods research, coupled with my organizational and communication skills, provides me with a unique perspective for lesson planning and private instruction. An understanding of the big picture with an attention to detail helps me in making clear development decisions. I am seeking the opportunity to grow in a career where I can implement an extensive set of skills acquired through years of experience and learning and know that I am making a positive impact.
